Other than ordering on line, it is very difficult to find New York wines other than Finger Lakes and Adirondack wineries in the local shops. While wine shopping last week at my favorite "Mom and Pop" shop, the shop's owner let me know of the sale he was having on La Corte Salice Salentino 2006. usually always listen to shop owners for advice and this wine is why. A few weeks ago, I reviewed a Fingerlakes red table wine from Damiani Wine Cellars of Hector, NY. was totally surprised that I found a NY red I really enjoyed. mentioned in that other review that I am now a believer that New York can produce some outstanding reds. Today, I found a bottle of Eclipse 2004 on the shelf of a local Mom and Pop shop and decided I should give it a try. I have no idea what occurred between the early 1980's and present in the case of New York Finger Lakes red wines. honestly tried many of them between 1973 when I moved into the region until, I gave up on them around 1980.
