I mentioned in my last post that I have been dealing with an ulcer issue. It's something I've had for about 20 years and seems to come and go whenever. In the meantime, I have given up coffee and wine. Hate to waste good wine. -

If you haven’t tried a Riesling yet this is a great place to start Paired with chicken with rosemary, mushrooms and white wine made by chef Pat McCoy. -

A WINE STORY | MONDAY, MARCH 21, 2011 VOS Selections: Austrian Wine with Andi Kollwentz and Rainer Wess Vertical shoot positioning is often used to shade the grapes from the intense sun, and Riesling is usually planted on higher slopes than Gruner Veltliner. My favorite of the Rainer Wess wines was the Riesling Achleiten 2008, which had a smokey minerality that came out of the dark granite soil. Both producers were so energetic and fun. -

Clear, medium pale with lemon gold colors and slightly funky but friendly aromas accented with hints of petrol, honey and a floral perfume. Again I say. out-STANDING! and $25. -

So it's something closely akin to "superbowl week" here in New York, now that producers and negotiants from Burgundy are here for events surrounding La Paulee. -
