A Private Visit to G.H. Mumm in Reims
It uses chardonnay (30 percent) pinot noir (45 percent) and pinot meunier and is toasty, rich, and sumptuous. and now we try the Cuvee Lalou 1999, which is 50/50 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. So after visiting the three champagne festivals, I was lucky enough to get a VIP tour of Champagne G.H. Mumm in Reims. years.

    Terroirs & Talents 2012
They use mostly pinot meunier which gives fruit in this region. Their village is mostly pinot noir (pn) and I liked their 2005 brut prestige with pn and chard. Wow it is so exciting to be here and meet the growers. am in Epernay at the Terroirs & Talents de Champagne tasting at the Au Restuarante Theatre.  pours the wine.

    Bellavista from Franciacorta
Unlike the grapes of Champagne, the primary grapes for Franciacorta is Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier. Very excited to visit Brescia, Italy for the wine blogger's conference! have been reading a lot about Bellavista and hope to visit the winery. Vintage Franciacorta must spend a minimum of 30 months on the lees.

Some of my Favorite Champagnes with Fried Food.Who Knew?
With the oysters I drank a relatively unknown but incredibly delicious and interesting wine, the 2004 Michel Loriot Pinot Meunier Vieilles Vignes Brut , $75. Meunier does very well in this part of the Marne, and Michel Loriot makes several Meunier-based wines. Champagne and fried food do somehow go together very well.

A Trend Toward Single-Vineyard Wine in Champagne?
The next morning I thought of this again with Vincent Laval in the cellars at Champagne Georges Laval, as Vincent told us about the conditions in Les Chênes and Les Hautes-Chèvres, the vineyards that produce his single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Champagne houses, in general, followed a different path. If it is, in fact, a trend.

    Great Champagnes, Under $50
Pinot Noir-heavy wines. This is always based on a single vintage, and is usually about 90% Pinot Noir. About 90% Pinot from the village of Bouzy. Pinot Meunier-heavy wines. About 80% Meunier, slow to unwind, quite rich, made in a slightly oxidative style, lots of soil. Well, I want to add my.02 cents.

    Champagne fact & fiction
The champagne in your glass likely is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and/or Pinot Meunier grapes. For an artisanal Champagne, try the Camille Saves, Carte Blanche ($45), a blend of mostly pinot noir that makes for a delicious aperitif. Does champagne go to your head faster because of the bubbles? Does Pellegrino?

JD Headrick's Wines at Rouge Tomate
Pinot Meunier does very well in this area and Bedel's wines are mostly Meunier. It is 100% Meunier, mostly from the ripe and forward 2000 vintage, with about 10% reserve wines. 2007 Claux Delorme Valençay , about $16, is a delicious blend of Malbec, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir. Silly me.

Wild Champagnes That I Have Loved
As reported in ChampagneGuide.net , Franck Pascal is a rising star in the northern part of the Marne, in the village of Baslieux-sur-Châtillon where the soil is especially friendly to Pinot Meunier. This rosé is mainly Meunier, based on the regular NV cuvée with still red wine (both Pinot Noir and Meunier) blended in.

    Champagne to ring in 2010
An even third of the classic Champagne grapes of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier, this was a terrific value and incredibly delicious. Champagne Lunch at the Wine Media Guild. Curious about some favorite Champagnes? Speaking at the event - an annual event - was Ed McCarthy, author of Champagne for Dummies.

Champagne grapes don’t make Champagne [reader mail]
Champagne almost always comes from Chardonnay and/or Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier grapes. Dear Dr. Vino, I just discovered that champagne grapes are really tasty. bet they would pair well with champagne… Do they make Champagne or is that a marketing thing? It’s a marketing thing.

Savio Soares, Alice Feiring, Il Buco, and 10 Wines
This wine is Cabernet Franc, Pinot Meunier (yes, you read that right), and a third mystery grape which the producer will not reveal. Perhaps the most memorable wine for me was the final wine of the night, a sweet wine, a rosé of Pinot Noir. "I drank a few of your wines recently and I really like them. Let me get back to you."

    Friday Night Bubbles
Though he produces lovely Blanc de Blancs, José (pronounced Zho-say) is best known as one of the true - and few - champions of Pinot Meunier. His current Spécial Club release, 1998, is a 50/50 blend of Meunier and Chardonnay from vines of up to 70 years in age. Would you like to write a guest post for Friday Night Bubbles?

    Friday Night Bubbles
This wine is unusual in that it is 100% Pinot Meunier, a grape that is more often part of the blend in Champagne and only very rarely appears on its own. I've tasted and enjoyed their Brut Tradition wine before, a blend of about 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. I've been meaning to try this wine for a while now.

    More Terry Theise Grower Champagnes
love the entry level wine, called Expression, an interesting blend that is mostly Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, with a touch of Chardonnay thrown in for good measure. 60% Chardonnay and the rest Pinot Noir, this had a gorgeous nose of white flowers, I'm talking big Brooklyn Botanic Garden hothouse acacia flowers.

    Non-Dosage Champagne
Still wine is made from one of or some combination of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and possibly but very rarely Pinot Blanc and the obscure Arbane and Petit Meslier. If you're anything like me then you've been thinking recently about non-dosage Champagne. mean, who wouldn't be - it's such an interesting issue.

    It's Love! It's.More Grower Champagne!
At 50% Pinot Meunier, this wine is deep, nutty, and juicy, and at the same time elegant and crackling with bright minerality and acidity. Geoffroy uses lots of Meunier, and the wines were all long and intense. Brooklynguy is in love with Champagne. mean seriously, it's just so good, I can hardly stand it. What an opportunity!
