The FREE Murcia wine tasting event

The events were set up by the same gentleman who set up the tasting I attended for Rioja wines (also at the Astor Center) about a month ago. Upon arriving I tasted a few of the wines and made modest notes. Overall I found the wines to be simple, artificial tasting and possibly over-oaked. Happy weekend Wine Tasting! MORE >>

tried a Sangiovese, an Italian varietal that is not that common in NorCal and was the only one I tasted on this trip. Sadly the gentleman in the tasting room at SS was not the friendliest guy around. It was also the ONLY winery on my trip that charged me for a tasting. Oh yeah, did I mention how beautiful the tasting room was. MORE >>

Day in Napa

But either way, it was an amazing visit to the Havens winery where my good friend Connie runs the tasting room. The wines that stood out though were their Syrahs. enjoyed the 2003 Havens Syrah but mentioned to Connie that I thought the nose was a little closed. Happy Wine Country wine tasting! Nice wines. Polaner tasting standouts

But now, my long overdue summary of the wines I was able to try at the Polaner tasting. Maybe given my "neophyte" status, I try to taste as many wines as possible and miss the point. Either way, while it was overwhelming, I tasted some very fine wines and met some very personable and charming winemakers (or winery proprietors). MORE >>

Kosher Wine Extravaganza - Unusual (but gooood) wines

Out of well over 100 wines I managed to taste 81 of them followed by some Cognac (which I was told I was not allowed to spit) to finish things off. Merlot, Cab, Syrah - been there done that.
