WINE TASTING GUY |
MONDAY, MAY 5, 2008
NorCal day 2: Sonoma
started with a white blend of 50% Semillon & 50% chardonnay that I really enjoyed. Oily" is used to describe the texture or body of a wine and is commonly associated with Semillon - which may be why I used that descriptor (another benefit to blind tasting). It was nice, as was the Proprietors Cab which was blended with 24% Syrah.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 2008 Polaner tasting standouts
had a Bordeaux Blanc made by Arietta called the "Arietta White Wine on White Keys 2006" that was a blend of Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon and had an interesting breadiness with some melon & pineapple aromas. At a wholesale price of about $150/bottle the 2005 Gemstone Cabernet (blended with 6% Petit Verdot) was another BIG NAPA CAB.
