I feel a little guilty here by tasting a Riesling outside the New York Finger Lakes, but I thought it may be time to see what the rest of the world has to offer with what has become my favorite white wine. I like to travel within New York City, to explore the far away neighborhoods, and the not so faraway. Get ready for this last bit because if you live in New York, you're going to freak out a little. started off the afternoon dicing up some veggies and cheese bites with a few dips and opening up a NEW YORK Finger Lakes 2010 dry Riesling from the Fox Run Vineyards. Of course, any wine opened on this day will be from New York, after all they are playing against a team from California, which made the wine choice very easy.

I have often mentioned that my favorite white wine is Riesling, especially those from the New York Finger Lakes region. now think that it is maybe because I found the Riesling and Albariño so similar. The first two were opened on New Year's day with a dinner of pork roast with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut.

Each year, at least for the past three, I have been tasting new wines.(At At least new to me). New reds were just as interesting. The Albarino's and an excellent Vino Verde from Portugal were among the best, but Finger Lakes Riesling's are still my favorite and choosing one of them is almost impossible. So, here goes.
