Wine starts in the Vineyard - Golan Heights Winery
Much more versatile in terms of foods it will pair well with than the more popular Cabs & Merlots. Made a trip back up to the Golan Heights today.  Once again, feeling like a VIP (I think I can get used to this) I was taken on a private tour of some vineyards and given a tasting of selected wines.  looks a little freaky huh.

Home made wine from Englewood, NEW JERSEY???#$%^
We ended up picking up some Zinfandel that we were pretty excited about as well as some merlot that we were a little less excited about.  We were much happier with the Zinfandel than we were with the merlot.  But rather than spilling out the merlot we decided to try a Zin/Merlot blend.  How good was it you ask?

Organic Wine From The South Africa! Upland Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
And pinotage only scratches the surface of the history of viticulture in South Africa. It starts out with primarily shiraz (syrah) and a good amount of the South African original, pinotage, a viticultural cross of Cinsaut and Pinot Noir created in the 1920's. After that add a little Grenache and some merlot and round it off with small percentages of Gamay (really?) It is huge. But the best part is Sheep's Meadow. Cheer
