    La Follette Wines: A Seminar
My favorite wines with both scallop dishes were the 2007 Tandem Sangriacomo Vineyard Chardonnay and the 2009 Torbreck Roussanne/Marsanne/Viognier. Greg La Follette of La Follette Wines. Of the three Chardonnays were I preferred the 2008 La Follette Lorenzo Vineyard, which was very Meursault like and Greg said was due to the specific vineyard.

Discover Rhone Days 2, Day 3, Day 4
the whites of the Hermitage were 100% Marsanne and some Rousanne blends. So far the Discover Rhone festivities have been a non-stop adventure of Master Classes, tastings, fabulous lunches and dinners, and evening events and parties. The 'easiest'' day wast he first, as there was only one fair. The second day was Hermitage.

    Libation in Lisbon
Rhone, and presents us with tastes of several wines made from Viognier, Marsanne, and Rousanne. … so when you think of Portugal, you probably think of Port, yes? And it’s true, Port has been the signature drink of the country for decades. Yet in the last twenty years, still (and sparkling) wine from Lisbon has taken center stage.

    Saint Bacchus 2010 Tasting
Whites are made up of Grenache Blanc, Maccabéo, and Marsanne, Roussanne, and Vermentino/Rolle, which together must make up at least 20 per cent of any white wine blend. This is one of my favorite regions in the world, and the La Maison de la Region Languedoc-Roussillon is very active showcasing wines of the region to the trade. marianne.

Which white wine would convert a fan of reds?
In which case, there are white Rhone varieties such as viognier, marsanne, roussanne that might fit the bill. Ray Isle posts an interesting question on his Facebook page. Since Facebook as all the appeal of a leper with cooties these days thanks to their recent privacy decision, why not bring it up here as well? What do you think?

    A Night of Pierre Gonon
typical blend at 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne, but atypical in its freshness, elegance, and energetic character. The other night my friend Adam invited a couple of people to his place for a night of wines from Pierre Gonon, the decidedly old school producer from St. Joseph. I've had two vintages of the St. love this wine - I LOVE it.

Chauvet & Neauport and Natural Wines
Eleven PM, Ten Bells, wondering where vigneron Thierry Puzelat was, oh, probably out there in Brooklyn getting a black eye or something, while I was drinking K, the gorgeous Marsanne from Dard et Ribo. didn't catch the vintage but would have to be 2008, though tasted more like the kick ass 2007, decanted. Eric last year in France. I asked.

    Pairing Wine with Asparagus
The Qupé Marsanne from the previous post was served with fish but also with asparagus, and it worked - the wine is mineral-driven and didn't conflict at all with asparagus. First of all, I think this whole asparagus are impossible to pair with wine thing is exaggerated. Asparagus are the anti-fruit, and they don't work well with fruity wine.

Wine of the Week - 2007 Qupé Marsanne
2007 Qup é Marsanne , $22 east coast price, out west it costs $18. The blend caught my eye first - 88% Marsanne and 12% Roussanne, and I've lately been exploring white wines made with these and other traditional Rhône grapes. And this sensibility really comes through in the 2007 Marsanne. know, it's a California wine!

    Obscure Grapes
Marsanne, obscure? I was lucky enough to be invited to a dinner at Wine & Spirits Senior Editor Tara Q. Thomas ' house recently. Julia Harding , Jancis Robinson's Assistant Editor was in town, and she has a special interest in obscure grapes. That would be the theme. What do you bring to a dinner like this?

Say wha? Weingut Stadlmann Zierfandler and Rotgipfler
The 2006 has aromas somewhat akin to Marsanne or other Rhone whites, with a hint of peach, white flowers, quince, minerals, slight alcohol and minerals. The other day I had a great Zierfandler. How often can you say that? The wine has a beautiful, arching minerality on the palate and is completely dry. It paired perfectly with parsnip soup.

Thoughts on a Northern Rhône Tasting
Particularly the Marsanne/Roussanne blends. I recently participated in the Wine & Spirits Northern Rhône tasting panel. Blind tasting 12 flights totaling 39 wines, 13 producers, and lots of discussion with a panel of articulate and experienced people. Here are my impressions, in broad strokes: I want to drink more white Rh ô ne wine.

    What, Me Turley?
They also make white wine from Rhone grapes like Roussanne and Marsanne. Who woulda thunk it - Brooklynguy, lover of all reds light and elegant, got down and danced with a huge famous California Zinfandel the other night, and came out none worse for the wear. In fact, I actually kind of liked it. Turley is a cult thing. Or would they.
