Fighting Globalization in your Glass 'Once you guys succeed in making all wine taste the same, what will you do for a living?' | WINE TASTING GUY FEBRUARY 26, 2008 Alto Adige Wines Grand Tasting This blend of 20% Tannat (a grape originally from SW France), 30% Petit Verdot (a Bordeaux varietal) and 50% Lagrein was very nice. guess the Alto Adige version of Bordeaux as they used 4 of the 5 Bordeaux varietals and replaced the 5th (Malbec) with the local Lagrein. enjoyed the conversations I had with them. new record high for me. | | | | | | | | | -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, 2008 Jenny & Francois Portfolio Tasting No merlot in this one, maybe some tannat. None of the bulkiness I associate with malbec. In case you're not familiar with Jenny & Francois , they import natural wines from all over France, from heavy hitters like Burgundy to unsung heroes like the Côtes de Duras (just northeast of Bordeaux, and considered Southwest France). BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | MONDAY, APRIL 7, 2008 Jenny & Francois Follow Up And this is Malbec we're talking about, with a little bit (5%) of Tannat thrown in. I was very much impressed with the Jenny & Francois portfolio , so much so that I decided to buy a few and taste them at home with dinner. I'm happy to tell you that these wines are even better with a meal than they were at the tasting. MORE >>
