The two "lesser" regions I refer to are the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais, both south of the Cote de Beaune and north of Beaujolais. The Maconnais is home to St Veran and Pouilly Fuisse, among others. I am finding that the un-oaked whites from the "lesser" regions of Burgundy are just fantastic in 2005. But back to the whites.I

2005 Jean Manciat Macon Vieille Vignes , price unknown (about $30) - old vine Chardonnay from the Maconnais, a Burgundian region known for value whites. Warning : this is a really long post you might need to read it over several days, or during one day in which you are really bored at work. hauled my butt into Manhattan (!) Just yummy.
