SEPTEMBER 17, 2008 [Livermore Valley] Mitchell Katz Sangiovese 2006 Crackerbox Vineyards
Sangiovese (the primary grape used in making Chianti ) grown in this part of California (Livermore Valley) makes for an interesting variation on a theme. Mitchell Katz ages this 100% Sangiovese in French oak with an alcohol content of 15.4%. That sounds fairly high but hardly noticeable while tasting it. On the nose I get cherries, chocolate and a faint hint of rubber bands, but upon tasting there is an exotic spiciness with a black cherry finish.

JUNE 22, 2012 [Livermore Valley] Wente Vineyards Morning Fog Chardonnay 2010
Wente Vineyards Morning Fog Chardonnay 2010 ( $14 ) submitted by: Mark Connell As I sit at the picnic table on a gorgeous Central New York evening, watching the grill, I opened a bottle of Chardonnay from Wente Vineyards, Livermore Valley San Francisco Bay. I would like to introduce all my readers to my good friend and co-worker, Mark. Mark usually accompanies Shirley and I to local wine fest and wine tours. He also appreciates fine wine and some not so fine.
