Flavor: broad and fresh; the characteristic fruity aromas of the bouquet come through with complexity and end with a clean finish. | WINE TASTING GUY APRIL 30, 2008 Polaner tasting standouts Interestingly enough, they make a 100% grenache wine called the (2005) St. The 2005 Altus Napa Cab was blended with 5% Malbec, Petit Verdot & Merlot (3 of the Bordeaux varietals) and was aged in 80% new medium toasted oak (a high percentage). The blend is Mourvedre, Carignan, and Grenache. And this is Malbec we're talking about, with a little bit (5%) of Tannat thrown in. This is a blend of Carignan, Syrah, and Grenache. Malbec is our first wine and it comes from Argentina. All of these elements combine to make great malbec. And that is just what this is, a great malbec.
