First it was the extensive tasting of Israeli wines by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate ("Israeli wine isn't an oddity any more, and it is certainly not just for those who keep kosher"). | WINE TASTING GUY OCTOBER 26, 2008 Wine starts in the Vineyard - Golan Heights Winery Made a trip back up to the Golan Heights today. Once again, feeling like a VIP (I think I can get used to this) I was taken on a private tour of some vineyards and given a tasting of selected wines. And that does not include the wines made in the Galilee region by its sister winery Galil Mountain. | | | | | | | WINE TASTING GUY OCTOBER 23, 2008 Golan day, tanks, and NYC kosher crush Spent the day in and around the Golan Heights today. It is wild how you can see Syria as you drive many of the high altitude roads of the Golan Heights. Visiting wineries up in The Golan Heights getting caught behind TANKS that are being transported. The last Israeli wine I want to mention is a wine I recently tried for the first time, the Golan Cabernet Sauvignon. The Golan Cab was featured by wine writer Howard Goldberg in the NY Times in August , and as it turns out is a damn good wine. | | | | | | | | | -
WINE TASTING GUY | TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 2008 Misinformed - what to do with a bad wine educator? I attended an Israeli wine tasting at a local cultural center earlier this week. Among the instructor's opening statements was a proclamation that the Israeli wine industry took a major step forward with the introduction of the Golan Heights Winery 15 years ago (it was more like 25 years ago). was actually a full 750ml. WINE TASTING GUY | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 2008 Best bet (kosher) Israeli wines for Passover - at all price ranges. The first I will start with is one that helped a financially challenged Wine Tasting Guy get through many a Jewish holiday. The last wine I want to bring up in this category comes from the Golan Heights Winery, famous for its Yarden wines. But there is a winery I have not yet mentioned - Recanati. Galil Mountain. MORE >>
