WINE TASTING GUY | SUNDAY, MARCH 30, 2008 Kosher Wine Extravaganza - Unusual (but gooood) wines Rather it was a 2004 (I think) Recanati Reserve Cabernet Franc. Cab Franc is one of the 5 Bordeaux varietals (grapes which can be used to make French Bordeaux wine - others being Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec & Petit Verdot), and it is usually used as a complementary grape as opposed to a primary grape in Bordeaux. Upland Estate Cabernet Sauvignon In France Cabernet tends to be a bit more refined with phenolic harmony even in the more rustic examples. If you were on farmland and picked up a handful of soil and shoved you nose right in there that is what you smell first off with this wine. Let's talk South Africa. That sounds simple enough.
