Formerly known as Hargrave Vineyards, Anne Marie & Marco Borghese have taken Castello di Borghese to new heights. They made the oldest vines on Long Island work very successfully for them. Aged in French oak for 13 months before bottling. R uby with warmer colors around the edge of the glass.

Havne't written anything here in a little while. Partly because I've been very busy. I've been working a lot, and some of that involves travel. I found this place in New Orleans called Bacchanal , where you can buy a bottle of wine from the shelf and then drink it out back amidst the large shade trees, eat something tasty, and listen to shockingly good music. In that garden, I very much enjoyed the 1996 López de Heredia Tondonia. With a simple and lovely seafood salad. MORE >>

In yesterday’s post about the advantages that craft beer has over wine , I mentioned both price and more consistency from a lack of cork taint as well as vintage variation. However, even in the series of articles over on San Francisco magazine, a group of tasters blind tasted three bottled beers vs draft pours of the same beer and two of the bottled beers were “lightstruck” (including one in a brown bottle).
