FEBRUARY 4, 2011 Guacamole: impossible food-wine pairing?!?
The Super Bowl brings to the host city all kinds of things ranging from pulse-pounding punt returns to prostitutes. Apparently the Super Bowl also brings out avocados in force (although it doesn’t have such an impact on sales as some may think according to snopes ).

FEBRUARY 2, 2011 Storing Champagne
Did you know that there are several types of closures used for secondary fermentation in Champagne? And several closures used by producers to store Champagne as it ages? I suppose this is not shocking, but I hadn't really thought about it until I saw bottles in cellars and started asking questions.

FEBRUARY 3, 2011 La Soirée des Grands Cru
On a frigid night following one of the gazillion God forsaken snowstorms that we’ve had thus far, I headed downtown for La Soirée des Grands Cru–a lux goods sponsored fine wine event. At 82 Mercer, wearers of gold bands (including early access ticket holders and press) arrived early to peruse the spacious warehouse floor, dark [.]. wine events Wine Reviews 82 Mercer Bordeaux Chateau La Conseillante Chateau Prieure-Lichine La Soiree des Grands Cru

A WINE STORY La Soiree des Grand Crus Update
| THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2011
Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu. "So," "So," you might ask, was it worth it to attend a very dressy event wearing snowboots, mittens, and all sorts of snow wear? The crowd checking coats and boots at a fabulous downtown space last week seemed to think so. 17 Bordeaux château owners poured their latest vintages (as well as some earlier vintages) and it was great to visit the various booths and compare them to one another.
