| | | | WHY WINE BLOG SEPTEMBER 30, 2011 Boutari Kretikos Red Wine 2008 After a few near record high temperatures for late September, it has finally (again) cooled down a bit and I began to get a little anxious to open up some of my red wines. For the wine, I opened a Boutari Kretikos Red Wine 2008. The 15 acre hillside vineyard with limestone and chalky soils is 500 to 700 feet above the Cretean Sea. Greek wine | | | | | | | | | -
VIGNA UVA VINO | SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2011 Terra Noble Carmenere Gran Reserva 2009 This week, as part of a Snooth tasting hosted by Eric Guido, we had the pleasure of sampling four Chilean red wines. Yields are down this year with some of the fruit showing signs of bunch rot in the Sauvignon Blanc (pictured below). In the next week we will be dropping the bad fruit and picking the raisined clusters to crush as a separate lot. wonder how Mr. Sauv B feels about this. Savory. MORE >> -
DR. VINO | TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2011 Wine labor in South Africa I’m a day late to the theme of the Labor Day holiday. But, heck, why don’t we make it Labor Week? Perhaps nowhere is the labor situation as acute as South Africa. wine picks MORE >> -

His farm is about two hours away in New Jersey. He has stalls at the Union Square and Grand Army Plaza farmer's markets. He's been a farmer for a long time and he is a master of produce. Honestly, his vegetables just taste better. MORE >> -
A WINE STORY | MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2011 Weingut Ludi Neiss in Germany We may tentatively visit Ludi Neiss. and I will have more to say if we do. For now, the story is that Axel Neib is the fifth generation winemaker and the vineyards have been converted to mostly classic varieties. The picture above tells a million stories and I can't wait to see it in person (though I hope it is not as cold!). MORE >>
