L'Arpent Rouge is made from Pineau D'Aunis , an old and not much used anymore grape that a few Loire Valley producers like Clos Roche Blanche and Belliviere are reviving. Why, drink wine, of course. | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE MAY 23, 2008 Friday Night Bubbles Olivier Cousin makes natural wines, working his family's property in the central part of the Loire Valley near the area defined as Coteaux du Layon. This is a definite re-buy, although the price forces me to consider the occasion instead of just grabbing another and tucking it away, as I would if it were under $20. | | | | | | | | | | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE FEBRUARY 18, 2011 Farro Salad immediately wanted a Sancerre, or any Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire, as the goat cheese seemed to ask for it. Why not, who's going to stop me. | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE DECEMBER 5, 2010 Osso Bucco Don't even be a little bit scared, because you should definitely make this dish. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2011 In Defense of Red Wine This is definitely a wine that showcases ripe dark fruit, but that's only a part of the package. Red wines from Cheverny in the Loire Valley can include a variety of grapes. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, JULY 23, 2009 Wine of the Week - Damien Laureau Savennières Definitely wound up, not revealing all of itself, and not at all settled, but gorgeous. Tags: Damien Laureau Wine of the Week Loire Valley Savennières The Savennières AOC is a small appellation, and a small group of producers makes most of the wine that hits US retail shelves. The village of Savennières is a very small place. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26, 2009 Brooklyn Blind Tasting Panel #1 - Cour-Cheverny Cour-Cheverny is high-acid wine, even by Loire Valley acid freak standards. Cazin is definitely the leading producer in the appellation with many years of great wines under his belt. It's not bad wine, but in this company it was definitely not distinguished. Is there room for another blind tasting panel? Just mute. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 2010 Birth Year Wines But he knows enough about wine so that his search was very specifically directed, and he found something from the Loire Valley that should be fantastic - I'll let you know how it goes in a few weeks. BrooklynLady and I love Loire Valley white wines, particularly Huët - who doesn't? So this producer is meaningful too. MORE >> -
Whoa! Clos Rougeard's rare (and pricey) Chenin Blanc is one of the most intriguing white wines of the Loire Valley. Well made Bandol rosé definitely improves with age. Been so busy lately with work that I just haven't had time to write here. But I want to share some recent "Whoa," wine and food that really knocked me out. Briny. MORE >>
