    A Perfect Spring Lunch
    It's mostly Cinsault and Grenache, with little bits of things like Syrah and Rolle (aka Vermentino). It's finally spring in New York. That two weeks in early April when all of the sudden it was 75 degrees and the cherry trees blossomed early and everyone wore shorts, no, that wasn't spring. Anyway, now, it's spring. I asked.

    Les Terroises Corbières 2008 AOP
    From the French AOP of Languedoc, here is a blend of Carignan, Grenache Noir, Syrah, and Cinsault. Full bodied red, deep garnet colors, with aromas of dark fruit, blackberry, raspberry and spices, and some barnyard, dry on the tongue with medium plus tannins, more spice hints and a decent finish. SRP $10 and 12% alcohol.

    Year in Review
    blend of 40% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, 15% Carignan, 10% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. I guess saying that 2011 was not as eventful as 2010 would be understating it a little. Although one must still put up with some of the aches and pains of old age there was nothing very serious to deal with other than a slight weight issue.

    Chateau Cabrieres Cuvee Prestige Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2007 Rhone Valley
    From the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the Rhone Valley, France, made from a blend of 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre and 10% Cinsault. Deep ruby in color, on the nose red cherries, leather and funk, and animal notes. Dry with medium acidity and tannins and supported by flavors of red fruits, pepper and sour cherry.

    The reds are made primarily of Grenache and Mourvèdre, and there are many other grapes added in smaller proportions, like Cinsault, Syrah, Carignan, Petit Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and then local varieties such as Muscat Noir, Castet, Manosquin, and Brun-Fourca. The same family has been making wine there for over 300 years.

    would like to think I dazzled him by blind tasting the Domaine de la Coste rose and stating it was cinsault with a bit of grenache. Of course, the salmon color gave away the majority of Cinsault. Arnaud Moynier. Recently, the intersection of 53rd and 5th has become a regular stop.

    Brooklyn Blind Tasting Panel #4 - Inexpensive Provence Reds
    don't know the exact blend but it's lots of Mourvedre with some Grenache and Cinsault in there. blend of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, I found bright citrus fruit on the nose - think persimmon, and also some very prominent sandalwood aromas. It is a blend of Syrah and Cabernet, and there might be other grapes in there too.

    Provence - the Best $10 Red Wines?
    An approximately equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from the great producer in Var in the Côtes de Provence. With an hour open the Syrah blossoms and the nose shows a distinct animale side, full of pheromones. There is about 35% Grenache, some Syrah, probably some Cabernet Sauvignon, and perhaps some Cinsault.

    40% Syrah, 30% each Grenache and Cinsault. There is a slightly peppery, salt pork nuance that I assume comes from the Syrah. 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Carignan, 15% Syrah, and 5% Grenache. blend of Grenache and Cinsault, don't know the exact proportions. Delicious food friendly wine, at a great price.

    Syrah, and Grenache. For $14 you can get the 2007 Domaine Rimbert Travers de Marceau , a less intense and complex, but also very delicious wine that omits the Grenache and includes Cinsault and a little bit of Mourvedre. 75% Syrah, some Grenache, Cinsault, and Mourvedre make up the balance.

    This is hot weather France where hardy grapes thrive, like Grenache and Mourvedre, Cinsault and Carignan, and of course, Syrah.
