    A Perfect Spring Lunch
    It's mostly Cinsault and Grenache, with little bits of things like Syrah and Rolle (aka Vermentino). It's finally spring in New York. That two weeks in early April when all of the sudden it was 75 degrees and the cherry trees blossomed early and everyone wore shorts, no, that wasn't spring. Anyway, now, it's spring. think that's malarkey.

    Les Terroises Corbières 2008 AOP
    From the French AOP of Languedoc, here is a blend of Carignan, Grenache Noir, Syrah, and Cinsault. Full bodied red, deep garnet colors, with aromas of dark fruit, blackberry, raspberry and spices, and some barnyard, dry on the tongue with medium plus tannins, more spice hints and a decent finish. SRP $10 and 12% alcohol.

    blend of 40% Grenache, 25% Cinsault, 15% Carignan, 10% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. I guess saying that 2011 was not as eventful as 2010 would be understating it a little. Although one must still put up with some of the aches and pains of old age there was nothing very serious to deal with other than a slight weight issue. So, here goes.

Ok, for some reason I may have missed this in Geography class. When I think of Algeria, I think of desert, sand, sun and boiling hot! Just right for growing red grapes, right? and 2nd Ave.

It is very young wines of Cinsault, Grenache, and Mourvedre from the back garden of Antoine Pouponneau's garden (he makes Bandol at Tour du Bon). Everyone knows that well made Bandol is beautiful and age-worthy wine. Aren't they? It is 12.5%

    Anyway.Pibarnon's rosé is 50% each of Mourv è dre and Cinsault, and it is a beautiful deep orange, with vibrant and spicy aromas of peaches.     Provence - the Best $10 Red Wines?
    There is about 35% Grenache, some Syrah, probably some Cabernet Sauvignon, and perhaps some Cinsault. I think that the sweet spot for red wine these days is in the $20 - $30 range (in NYC retail prices, anyway) There are all sorts of beautiful wines in that price range. Great $10 reds.not so easy, in my book. love this wine! reasonable 13.5%

Sometimes you just have to open a special bottle of wine.

    This iconic wine is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Cinsault and Carignan, all old vines, and all grown at high elevation where there are cool breezes and the grapes can retain lots of acid. He had splurged on a couple of grass fed strip steaks , an expensive cut of beef so tender that it can be served rare and still sliced thick.

    WBW #33 - Mid-Priced Midi Wines
    This is hot weather France where hardy grapes thrive, like Grenache and Mourvedre, Cinsault and Carignan, and of course, Syrah. Unfined and unfiltered, aged in wooden barrels, in the 2004 vintage the wine is about equal parts Grenache and Syrah, with some Cinsault and Mourvedre for good measure. Mid-priced Midi wines, if you will.
