WHY WINE BLOG | TUESDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2009 Why Wine: Year in Review Other than an occasional Chardonnay, it was red wine only for me. Yes, I don't always read all the labels when buying wine, especially when in the Italian section where this one was. WHY WINE BLOG | SUNDAY, JANUARY 2, 2011 Year In Review I'm usually wary when wineries give their wines a funky or even classical type name instead of just labeling it 'meritage.' This French Sauvignon Blanc was delightful. My fault for always believing the only descent white wines from France were Chardonnay and Champagne. Both happening during the snowiest part of the year. They had a fabulous label with the description of the cepage on it -- apparently it received an award in Holland. had a fabulous conversation with Fernando Vegas, who owns Avelino Vegas and had a lot of fun comparing his Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo. WHY WINE BLOG | WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2009 A Day In The Finger Lakes 2 Donna was right about the whites and I found some terrific reds, including their new Row House label. My faves here were the Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio blend, along with the Rieslings and both the Row House red and white. don't know where to rank the day's events. have to say it was the folks we met.
