I'm usually wary when wineries give their wines a funky or even classical type name instead of just labeling it 'meritage.' This French Sauvignon Blanc was delightful. Xarrel-Lo and Chardonnay are becoming a popular blend in Catalunya. They had a fabulous label with the description of the cepage on it -- apparently it received an award in Holland. had a fabulous conversation with Fernando Vegas, who owns Avelino Vegas and had a lot of fun comparing his Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo. Donna was right about the whites and I found some terrific reds, including their new Row House label. My faves here were the Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio blend, along with the Rieslings and both the Row House red and white. don't know where to rank the day's events. have to say it was the folks we met.
