BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, AUGUST 20, 2009 Wine of the Week - Jurassic Pinot from Philippe Bornard It wasn't even noon when I understood that I would be opening a Jura Chardonnay or Savagnin made in the under-the-veil style. The 2005 Philippe Bornard Arbois Pupillin Pinot Noir L'Aide Mémoire , $30, Savio Soares Selections, is an entirely different Pinot Noir, if you're used to the wines of Burgundy. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | FRIDAY, JANUARY 4, 2008 Brooklyn Wine Bars: Black Mountain Wine House BrooklynLady went with the NV Chateau Bethanie Cremant du Jura , $9, a slightly gamy and very earthy blanc de blancs, with nice citrus and lots of chalkiness. had the NV Bereche Brut , $14, grower Champagne made of about 60% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay, and a special pour that evening. Just look at this wine list. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19, 2008 Jura Tasting Chambers Street Wines held a Jura tasting in the beginning of March. Alright, maybe the 2004 Puffeney Arbois Pinot Noir , $27, was okay, but I just don't see what all the fuss is about. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | MONDAY, MAY 26, 2008 What I Drank Last Night Montbourgeau Crémant du Jura is not, in fact, 100% Chardonnay, as I cannot be proven to have stated. Also, my spokesman recently said that the NV Bedel Entre Ciel et Terre is a Blanc de Noirs, and my friends, it isn't. It is mostly Meunier, there is some Pinot Noir too, and about 10% of the blend is Chardonnay. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SATURDAY, MARCH 1, 2008 Friday Night Bubbles The more I drink sparkling wine, though, the more I learn about my palate, and these days I find that I'm preferential to sparklers from the Jura if I'm not drinking Champagne. Probably because I don't find Chenin Blanc to be as satisfying as Chardonnay or Pinot Noir when acting as the base for a sparkling wine. MORE >>
