Tidbits
This wine is all Bouzy, a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, but it reminded me of a wine I tasted a few years ago by Moutard that is made with the obscure grapes of Champagne, things like Arbanne and Petit Meslier. It was a red fruit mash at first - I would have guessed a Grenache heavy wine from further south had I tasted it blind.

Tomatoes Provençal (sort of)
The soils for the white wines supposedly resemble some of the Grand Cru plots of Chablis, with blue marl and limestone. Le Grand Blanc is a blend of 30% Grenache Gris, 30% Chardonnay, 20% Roussanne, 10% Muscat, and 10% Rolle (aka Vermentino). August brings some serious goodness to our local farmer's market. Keep it simple.

After the usual floundering around that accompanies this sort of exercise, I pegged it as a reasonable quality Petit Chablis or Chablis AC, perhaps from the Chablisienne cooperative? Voila, it was Clarks Faux Chablis, a wine I had no idea even existed. Main | Hearty Burgundy at Sanford? Do check it out. Yin and yang, right?
