DR. VINO | TUESDAY, JUNE 29, 2010 Tasting the hand and the land at Hirsch Vineyards So it was that the 1997 Chardonnay that we tasted was made by Williams-Selyem but the 2007 was from Hirsch Vineyards. The 2007 Hirsch, although nobody’s going to confuse it with Chablis, was definitely leaner, with higher acidity and lower alcohol: voluptuousness was replaced by more restraint. -
Chablis Night We had a bunch of people over for dinner this weekend for Chablis night. Everyone brought along a bottle of Chablis, I made dinner, and we enjoyed eating, drinking, and hanging out. In part, this was inspired by this Chablis post and the reaction to it by Kristin, Henriot's marketing director. But close. Lovely wine. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 2010 Two Things that Weren't Supposed to be Good, but Were. And because thus far I had so strictly adhered to tradition, we drank Chablis with this meal. wrote something not long ago complaining about money I spent on William Fèvre Chablis. 2006 William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru Montmains , $30-35, Imported by Henriot, Inc. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SUNDAY, MARCH 7, 2010 Tidal Pool A few years ago I spent a lot of money on two bottles of Chablis , money that I wish I could have back right now. Chablis is a difficult wine to get spendy with, assuming you want to drink Chablis that shows real Chablis character. I'm not sure that I would buy William Fèvre's wine again if I were paying $75 for Chablis. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2007 WBW # 39 Announced - Silver Burgundy I think of endlessly beguiling and beautiful Pinot Noir, and also of Chardonnay - crystalline, tense, and rich. Some of you are wondering "well why did Brooklynguy exclude Chablis and Beaujolais from his Silver Burgundy thing?" Here's why: Chablis is unique, and probably deserves its own WBW event. Is this even possible?

BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | FRIDAY, AUGUST 31, 2007 San Diego Trip Food and Wine Hafner Cabernet and Chardonnay are house wines at pop-in-law's. 2002 Domaine William Fevre 2002 Chablis Grand Cru Bougros , price unknown but probably about $45. Part wine bar, part brasserie, part chic bar hangout, this place is definitely on our go-to list from now on. I always enjoy visiting the in-laws in the San Diego area. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8, 2007 WBW #36 - Naked Chardonnay So this month's theme is Naked Chardonnay , or un-oaked Chardonnay. From the late '80s through the late '90s ( all dates are approximate , and cannot be confirmed ) Chardonnay was generic swill that the masses got when ordering white wine. Just give me a Chardonnay. So why naked or un-oaked Chardonnay? Many more. -
EAST VILLAGE WINE GEEK | TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2006 It Was A Good Day To Be A WIne Geek Stag's Leap Cellars was rolling out their new chardonnay at BLT Fish; someone just canceled would I like to attend. They have a line of cabernet and chardonnay that truly reflect what the state has to offer. The wine was the Stag's Leap 2004 Arcadia chardonnay. It had a definite meaty flavor void of all fishiness. | |
