Dressner did cut a few corners this year, for example by refusing to hire staff for the tables and thereby forcing wine makers from small villages scattered throughout the Loire Valley to travel all the way to NYC to pour the wines themselves. They're a couple of smart, well-educated, well-traveled, genuinely kind fellows who love wine, particularly Mosel Riesling. Dan managed Prune for 8 years and left to travel in Germany. don't know how much those wines cost, but I would eagerly welcome both of them into my cellar. And they are very delicious. MORE >>

I'm aware of storage as an issue, and I know that the wines I've drunk in the very cellars where they were made are among the best wines I've had. Truly perfect storage is next to impossible, outside of the cellar that birthed the wine. Maybe that sounds trivial, but not to me. Honestly, I don't care either way. They felt young. MORE >>
