This is not complicated wine, nor does it seem to be a good candidate for the cellar, but it is perfect in its simplicity. | DR. VINO OCTOBER 6, 2009 Natural wines, premox, chenin blanc, 07 Port and Rhone – John Gilman John Gilman, author of the newsletter The View from the Cellar , joins us again for a Q&A. But being younger than the gentleman I just mentioned, I do not have the same reserves of old vintages of white Burgundy or white Bordeaux in my cellar, and so premox has really hit my collection hard. Are these wines forcibly better? | | | | | | | | | | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE OCTOBER 23, 2006 Another Saumur Champigny He can't seem to help himself - even though he says he shouldn't be buying wine now, he finds himself perusing the Wine Commune acutions looking for good deals. He wasn't familiar with the producer but he knows that I love the Loire reds. My pal Deetrane is a Wine Commune addict (I will not link there, I'm no pusher, baby). | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE DECEMBER 29, 2006 End of the Year Round Up This was over a year ago, and we liked the wine enough that we bought 3 bottles for our "cellar" at Prospect Wine Shop. really liked it though, and I imagine that it is amongst the best such Cabernet Franc wines of the Loire Valley. bought two bottles a couple of years ago, and found a great deal on 6 more a few weeks ago. | | | | | | | | | -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SATURDAY, APRIL 14, 2007 Okay, Now for My Case So for all of you who want to poke your toe in the waters of the Loire, here is my case. Not a case from all over the world like Lyle's and Joy's, but Brooklynguy's case of Loire wine, a case that I believe will make anyone who likes wine a Loire lover. 2005 Chidaine Montlouis sur Loire Clos Habert , $26. And $17 - c'mon. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | FRIDAY, JANUARY 18, 2008 Non-Dosage Champagne The bottle must be topped off before corking and cellaring. The cork goes in and the bottle rests in the cellar for at least 15 months (3 years for vintage Champagne) and depending on the producer and the type of wine, for much longer. What's the big deal? It is a really big deal, as it turns out. No sugar? MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2007 Value Priced Burgundy - an Update According to my records in Cellar Tracker, Burgundy accounts for upwards of 25% of my wine consumption in 2007 (I'm not getting into actual numbers, because I don't want you to think that I'm some sort of booze-soaked sot, or something). get less pleasure from them than I do from a $15 Loire red, for example. Why not? So that's it?" MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, 2008 Checking my Stats understand that the stats can be misleading - if I went through a case of one particular wine because I got a great deal, well that will skew things. Aside from Baumard and Foreau, this is actually somewhat representative of what I have sleeping in the cellar too. The rest makes sense, Loire reds and Beaujolais all the way. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, MAY 3, 2007 Bottle Variation It happens sometimes and you deal with it, and besides being a momentary annoyance, it actually can become part of the overall experience, contributing in part to your love of that thing. It was very pure, with that rainwater sensation that I love in good Loire whites. am not complaining about this, so don't get me wrong. MORE >>
