A WINE STORY | WEDNESDAY, MAY 4, 2011 Paul Hobbs Speaks at Wine Media Guild Chile/Argentina From Argentina, I liked DeMartino Legada Reserve White 2009 (Limari) which is primarily Chardonnay on clay and limestone soil. For the reds, the De Martino El Leon Vineyard Carignan 2007 (Maule) was also very delicious, full bodied yet elegant. We tasted many examples today. lots of Torrantes from different producers. WINE TASTING GUY | WEDNESDAY, JULY 2, 2008 Where on earth is Aragon? varietal that was planted in abundance at one point is Carignan, (AKA Carignana), which got its name from the subregion on Aragon "Carignena". Also of note, as long as we are discussing Carignan, is that it is the most widely planted grape in France today ( according to winepros.org - bet you didn't know that - I sure didn't). MORE >>
