On the nose a thick and intense syrupy aroma of ripe cherries, with juicy flavors showing herbal influence, swathed in violet powder and a mild vegetal edge. | SLAKED MAY 24, 2009 1988 Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello From 95% cabernet sauvignon, with 3% merlot and 2% petit verdot.makes me think they should add 2% petit verdot to the final blend of the 2008, in an attempt to recreate the longevity of the sweetness here. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13, 2007 WBW 34 - Washington State Cabernet just don't enjoy the big and dense high alcohol wines that I tend to encounter from the California. California wines tend to be expensive, and quality tends to suffer at each price point in comparison with their counterparts from the old world. But California is not the only state on the west coast making wine. MORE >>
