In praise of mature wine
But the rate may actually be higher than with young wines since the cork industry has taken some steps to reduce cork taint in recent decades.) Making my way past the French wines I landed in the California section. But the lure of the reds grabbed me and it was the California reds and people I either knew or recognized who convinced me that white time was up. Zinfandels and 1 Syrah. DRINKING A 2005 BENSON FERRY OLD VINE ZINFANDEL WITH A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND
Where does it come from and why is it so popular and plentiful in California and not so much everywhere else. Basically, What's up with Zinfandel? Zinfandel today has achieved a sort of cult wine status in the US. And then there is "White Zinfandel." Out there they set up camp in the Central Valley of California.
