Cupcake Vineyards Central Coast Merlot 2009
Sourced from vineyards in the Central Coast region, Cupcake Vineyards brings this California Merlot to the table for a mere $10 price tag but it's definitely worth way more. Supple tannins but smooth and attractive with a matching finish. Really like this as an every day Merlot.

2007 Dierberg Chardonnay (USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley). Style note: Racy acidity cuts nicely through the delicous sweet golden butter of this California chard. Many characteristics of Burgundy (Meursault) in terms of the warmth, richness, yet also California style in terms of its expression.

I don't know what it is that makes October pinot noir season, but it's always around now that I start to break out the reds in earnest again and the pinot noir is always the first off the shelf.
