WHY WINE BLOG | SATURDAY, JULY 31, 2010 Treleaven Wines Meritage 2007 I don't often go with Shirley and Pam to the Saturday morning Central New York Regional Farmer's Market, but I made an exception today. While there I let the girls buy up all the fruit and veggies along with some free range meat and eggs they wanted while I hunted around for some wine samples. -

BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 2009 Wine of the Week - Bernard Baudry's Rosé It was November of 2005, BrooklynLady and I went to France together for the first time. We saw the vineyards surrounding the house, and then joined Mathieu in the house's tasting room where we sampled everything from the most recent Croix Boisée Blanc to the new lineup of reds to a 1996 Les Grezeaux, a gorgeous wine. -
SLAKED | TUESDAY, MARCH 10, 2009 Napa Valley Vintners In New York Yes, it’s cold and dreary in New York. First, I’d like to apologize for the boorish NY rogues who elbow their ways to the front of the tables and stick their glasses under your noses as they demand, “Cabernet please!” Sean Larkin is producing exceptional cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, and merlot (on the Jack Larkin label). -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | FRIDAY, JUNE 27, 2008 Friday Night Bubbles NV Domaine Spiropoulos Ode Panos , $15, Athenee Importers of New York. They grow indigenous grapes such as Moschofilero and Agiorgitiko, and also grow Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and other varieties - how they can do that successfully without an incredible diversity of soil and many micro-climates is beyond me.

BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18, 2008 By the Glass - Thierry Puzelat Edition The Puzelats grow Pinot Noir, Gamay, Côt (called Malbec in Argentina), Bréton (called Cabernet Franc in the film Sideways ), Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris (called Pinot Grigio in Italy), and the rarely seen Pineau D'Aunis and Menu Pineau (called Arbois in the Jura). There are many others to try too, this is just a sample. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 2008 NY Wine Tasting: Some Thoughts Brooklyn Uncorked is the annual showcase of Long Island wine and food that you should make a point of attending if you live in or near New York City. Just look at Shinn or Wolffer, for example (although I have no idea whether or not Wolffer uses natural yeasts for their Cab Franc). These are just my personal thoughts, that's it. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, JULY 11, 2007 Wine Blogging Wednesday #35 - Spanish Wine Under $10 WBW was created three years ago now by New York's own (by way of Pittsburgh, anyway) Lenn of Lenndevours. thought it would be nice to try a Bierzo, made from the Mencia grape, the older uncle of my beloved Cabernet Franc. Wine Blogging Wednesday is here again, and this month's theme is Spanish Wines Under $10. Me cynical? -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, MAY 24, 2007 Brooklyn Uncorked: A Tasting of Long Island Wines Here is what I like about them: The reds tend to be somewhat "old-world" in style - they offer complexity and balance that can be elusive among new world wines made with the big three Bordeaux grapes. They grow and make good Cabernet Franc. very tasty bottle of Loire Cab Franc from a good producer can cost about $15. | |
