A WINE STORY | FRIDAY, MARCH 30, 2012 Visiting Chateau Cordeillan Bages, Luxury Hotel Association with Lynch Bages It is an 18 th century chartreuse house converted into a luxury hotel and restaurant, where Michelin starred Chef Jean-Luc Rocha's inventive cuisine, is paired with the wines of Chateau Lynch-Bages and perhaps another winery owned by the Cazes family, Château Ormes de Pez in Saint-Estèphe. Very soon I will visit Chateau Cordeillan Bages! -

WHY WINE BLOG | MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2009 Why Wine: Joeshico Wine Review; Banfi Chianti Classico Reserve 2005 Tonight I added another favorite place to eat in Syracuse, Joey's Italian Restaurant. The only downside is the lack of New York wines on the list and no NY reds. Shirley and I have been dining here for the last 10 years and it seems that the food just keeps getting better and better. As usual, she always gets it right. -

There I tasted more reds and found an interesting blend 'Viridescens', a bordeaux style blend of Cab Franc, Cab/Sauv and Merlot. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 2009 Savio Soares, Alice Feiring, Il Buco, and 10 Wines And because he used to be the General Manager of the restaurant and in charge of the wine program, we received what you might call special attention. don't get to do this very often - enjoy a lavish meal and 10 wines at one of the city's better restaurants. It should retail at about $20 and it's a great new discovery in Chinon. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2009 NY Producers and Wine in Grocery Stores In my last post about the Governor's proposal to allow grocery stores to sell wine, I didn't discuss New York wine producers. There are about 21,500 grocery stores in New York State and about 2,500 liquor stores, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. Tags: Wine economics New York Wine -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | FRIDAY, JANUARY 25, 2008 Washington State Wine Tasting Primehouse New York hosted the event. Actually, the more compelling gimmick might be the fact that there is a bull named Prime on a ranch somewhere who supposedly sires all of the beef that you eat at the restaurant. imagine this would retail at about $20, a pretty good value for a delicious and young drinking Cabernet Franc. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, MAY 24, 2007 Brooklyn Uncorked: A Tasting of Long Island Wines Here is what I like about them: The reds tend to be somewhat "old-world" in style - they offer complexity and balance that can be elusive among new world wines made with the big three Bordeaux grapes. They grow and make good Cabernet Franc. very tasty bottle of Loire Cab Franc from a good producer can cost about $15. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2006 Wines of Catherine and Pierre Breton As is common in New York, a combination of artists and other intrepid souls in about 2000 began moving to Red Hook for the low rents. Soon there were a few art galleries, a bar or two, and even a couple of restaurants. It quickly became Red Hook's first destination restaurant. But the food was excellent. love this wine! -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2006 Some New York Wines We emerged from our tasting there with a few bottles of their 2002 Cabernet Franc Reserve and a 375 ml of a 2004 zippy desert wine made from late harvest chardonnay called Allegra. So now I know that Long Island makes serious wine.what about the rest of New York? All in all - New York wine = YES! violets? | |
