As much as I'm looking forward to the food and wine pairing, I'm looking to tasting the new vintage of Lynch-Bages (and hopefully some older vintages as well, and will share my notes with you). Each year, at least for the past three, I have been tasting new wines.(At At least new to me). New reds were just as interesting. delightful blend of Merlot and Cab Franc. On our recent wine tour through the Finger Lakes , I begrudgingly tasted a dry Cabernet Franc Rose' from Heron Hill Winery. Doesn't beat my favorites, (dry Rieslings and Sauvignon Blanc), but is a very pleasant add to my summer wine collection. Yes Lenn, I was nuts. The resulting juice once pressed was the perfect hue of pink.

I am just sitting back enjoying one of the many New York Finger Lakes wines I brought home from last weeks tour. put this stop first because it is definitely my favorite New York winery. There I tasted more reds and found an interesting blend 'Viridescens', a bordeaux style blend of Cab Franc, Cab/Sauv and Merlot.

I have no idea what occurred between the early 1980's and present in the case of New York Finger Lakes red wines.
