The Burgundies were not so impressive, on the whole. | | | | | | | | | WHY WINE BLOG AUGUST 9, 2009 Why Wine: Joeshico Wine Review; Henry Estate Oregon Pinot Noir 2006 Very comparable to French Burgundy in my opinion. Don't think I would have with any fish, but definitely a nice wine for lamb or a nice pork roast or even a good angus beef hamburger. Sometimes you just get lucky when searching out a wine. He did. Georges 1er Cru (a red Burgundy for those who don't have a masters in wine labeling) had some nice cherry and forest berry on the nose, together with some minerality & earthiness. then moved on the the Burgundies of Domaine Henri Jouan. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | MONDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2007 Dinner with the In-Laws LOVED it, and will definitely investigate Zind Humbrecht further. Father-in-law stunned us by bringing to this dinner a bottle of mature Burgundy wine, a 1993 Volnay 1er Cru by Robert Ampeau, a producer I had never encountered. This is a late harvest blend of mostly Chardonnay (65-70% I think), Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2006 Some Thanksgiving Wines Don't spend too much money , because its no fun to watch your uncle fill his glass to the rim with pricey premier cru Burgundy and then spill half on the table. Darting is a newfangled producer of German wine, mostly Riesling. These are definitely off dry wines, but they go well with food. Who am I to buck the trend? MORE >>
