The two people behind the bar that helped out were also quite knowledgeable, and definitely NOT pretentious. Loire-lovers have been touting 2005 as a great vintage, as good as 05 in Burgundy or Bordeaux. This wine is like a prizefighter in training - no sweet or fatty foods, lots of sleep, and definitely no sex, but this is just training. Yes, it would definitely be interesting to lineup a few examples of wine from each of the Crus and taste them side by side in order to learn about their individual terroir.but why go through the effort? would happily do that with any wines from anywhere, and it would probably be more rewarding with red Burgundies, for example. This wine was definitely grown in a valley. Everyone knows about Bordeaux and most people are somewhat familiar with the pinot noirs of Burgundy. It is 90% sangiovese, which is the main grape in this area with the rest being made up of canaiolo and merlot. So the Alphabet City Wine Co. We hope to continue on the assist. Cheers MORE >>
