Everything else is in place for greatness- brilliant terroir, old vines and a great tradition, but these have to be synthesized into the unfortunate new realities of global warming, and in my experience, the Austrians have still not made that leap. perfect example are the Burgundies of producers such as Henri Jayer and Domaine Dujac. Denis and unquestionably one of the greatest in all of Burgundy? It was in the Dujac cellar tasting those wines when I understood something fundamental about myself as a Burgundy drinker.
