Nothing wrong with that, but that part of Burgundy not what captivates me, and a blind tasting bore this out. participated in two of them. | BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE MARCH 2, 2009 Thoughts on Points Gevrey Chambertin - 99. The sample size he's working with is high enough so that I can trust these numbers to mean that Meadows prefers Gevrey Chambertin to Volnay, which he prefers to Nuits St Georges, which he prefers to Pernand Vergelesses, and so on. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2009 Same Terroir, Different Hands I was thinking about my Burgundy trip the other night at 3:30 am while rocking a squalling baby in the crook of my arm. Then pull it out at 3:30 am and you'll see… So I found that the most commonly occurring terroirs across our visits were Bonnes Mares and Charmes Chambertin, both Grand Cru, both tasted four times. WINE TASTING GUY | TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 2008 Skurnik Tasting - my favorites (finally) Georges 1er Cru (a red Burgundy for those who don't have a masters in wine labeling) had some nice cherry and forest berry on the nose, together with some minerality & earthiness. then moved on the the Burgundies of Domaine Henri Jouan. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2008 5% of the Tip of the Terroir Iceberg This is the first Burgundy Trip 2008 post. also learned a lot about terroir in Burgundy. The main things I learned about terroir are this: 1) Terroir is real in Burgundy. That Aux Combottes and Clos St Jacques make vastly different wines, even though they are both vineyards in Gevrey- Chambertin. Quite the opposite. MORE >> -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, JANUARY 25, 2007 Following up on a Buying Strategy Idea have been sampling some older experiments using this strategy, a few 2001 Pinots from Oregon and Burgundy, 2002 was considered the star vintage in both regions. This kind of thinking is especially important for me now that every few years it seems to be "the vintage of the century" in Burgundy (or Bordeaux, others too). So beautiful. MORE >>
