Good times for Israel wines
Having worked at Israeli wineries I was sure that others would eventually acknowledge the high quality of up-and-coming Israeli wines. First it was the extensive tasting of Israeli wines by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate ("Israeli wine isn't an oddity any more, and it is certainly not just for those who keep kosher"). The Golan Heights winery's Yarden 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon came in at 91. Having followed Israel wines for many years I knew this day would come. Having chosen a career in Israeli wines I have PRAYED for universal acceptance of Israeli wines.

Golan day, tanks, and NYC kosher crush
Spent the day in and around the Golan Heights today. It is wild how you can see Syria as you drive many of the high altitude roads of the Golan Heights. Visiting wineries up in The Golan Heights getting caught behind TANKS that are being transported. a COMPLETELY UNRELATED topic, my good friends It is really spectacular there. Just across the border from Syria.

Carmel's quality wine revolution
Among the many things I must do is to better acquaint myself with one of Israel's oldest wineries - Carmel. Well guess what folks, quietly the Carmel people have made HUGE advances in the vineyards, winery & their resulting products. Clearly they are doing things right at Carmel (marketing wise as well as winemaking) as I was subsequently thanked via email and invited to the winery for a more formal introduction to Carmel and the changes that have been implemented I fancy myself an aspiring Israeli wine expert, but I must admit that I have lots to do before I earn any such title.

Best bet (kosher) Israeli wines for Passover - at all price ranges...
am not going to go into ALL kosher wines but I will discuss where my passion lay, Israeli wines. The last wine I want to bring up in this category comes from the Golan Heights Winery, famous for its Yarden wines. Hermon" wines, but the GH Winery has a 2nd label you should all familiarize yourselves with - GAMLA. I have been asked by countless people which wines I would recommend they check out for Passover, so I thought it appropriate to blog for the masses. I

Wines for the New (Jewish) Year UNDER $30
the winery does produce several other wines that have been of particular interest of late. The last Israeli wine I want to mention is a wine I recently tried for the first time, the Golan Cabernet Sauvignon . The Golan Cab was featured by wine writer Howard Goldberg in the NY Times in August , and as it turns out is a damn good wine. I'm sorry for the delay in writing this post. I have gotten MANY requests for my Rosh Hashana suggestions.
