Pierre Overnoy and the 18- year -old Ouille
The day started with a train ride from Paris and then to Pupillon and Chez Overnoy, directly outside to his garden, to where he has his own little nursery with baby ploussard, savignin and chardonnay. While late June, the yard had this tender spring green about it. The hour was 11 o'clock. Out came the glasses. mystery wine was poured.

Saintsbury Wines from Carneros
The appellation was officially created in 1983, as its cool climate is excellent for creating Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a Burgundian tone of delicacy and finesse. Quick! When you think 'Carneros' what varietal comes to mind? On the palate, the wine is dry, acid is med, tannin is med with a finish of black pepper, spice, berries. Davis.

Anything But Chardonnay
Yes, there is an “Anything But Chardonnay club, dubbed “ABC , that from what I gather is anti anything Chardonnay. While I am not a club member, I have become mostly disenfranchised with Chardonnay. Or at least Chardonnay NOT from Burgundy.

ABCs of Wine: Tasting “Anything But Chardonnay”
Yet for me, ABC also means “Anything But Chardonnay.. Now there is nothing wrong with Chardonnay. Three very interesting white wines, none of them a Chardonnay! Apremont Appellation in the French Alps. It is an international variety produced almost everywhere on the planet. It can grow in warm and cool climates.

2004 Napa Valley Chardonnays
2004 Far Niente Napa Valley Chardonnay Yellow gold. Excellent, and to my mind the best Chardonnay in Napa after Kongsgaard. Overt black licorice, anise seed, and gobs of vanilla. Very pure palate, soft and moderately sweet with a very good balance, nice acidity, and moderately long, stoney finish. Hints at petrol, too.

WBW #36 - Naked Chardonnay
So this month's theme is Naked Chardonnay , or un-oaked Chardonnay. From the late '80s through the late '90s ( all dates are approximate , and cannot be confirmed ) Chardonnay was generic swill that the masses got when ordering white wine. Just give me a Chardonnay. So why naked or un-oaked Chardonnay? Many more.

2004 Hanzell Chardonnay
I didn't expect to like this 2004 Chardonnay from Hanzell Vineyards as much as I did. In fact, Hanzell's ultra premium chardonnay recently received 96 points from Parker, and was priced at $175/bottle. Hanzell previously reviewed: 2005 Chardonnay 1995 Pinot Noir. Pale hay color, but big Wow!

artiCHoke CHicken CHardonnay CHile
Here is Montes Classic Series Chardonnay in a 2007 vintage, from Curico Valley in Chile. Fermented in 75% American Oak and 25% stainless steel with colors of pale golden green, and scents of buttery pineapple and tropical fruits. On the palate is a fresh fruitiness (some lychee and ginger) mixed with vanilla ice cream. Damn good.

Chardonnay Series: Part Two
It was the NYT reference that prompted the gent to burst out with, "I make the kind of Chardonnay Eric Asimov loves!" Inside were three Pinot, ( not yet tasted) and one Chardonnay, from a vineyard I'm somewhat familiar with, Heintz. I was introduced to Sonoma's Mr. Alice is a wine writer," our mutual friend said, then he told the Mr.

Wine Review: Fess Parker Wines
Recently I received two chardonnays from Fess Parker (both Ashley's / Sta Rita Hills). According to the tech sheets, much of the winemaking techniques were similar, with both Fess Parker Chardonnay wines seeing the same time in wood, yet the cooperage was different. Acidity is medium and the finish is long and rich. Really fabulous.
