Can Celebrity restaurateur Danny Meyer Live up to the Hype?
In his new book Setting the Table, Danny Meyer sets himself up as the king of hospitality. Rather daring, don’t you think, for a restaurateur to write a book titled Setting The Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business ? This is also a “must read” book if you’re interested about how to open a restaurant.

Pairing whites with the thermometer – summer edition
Since I wrote a whole book centered on pairing wine with the seasons , I applaud all outdoor-temperature related pairings, which add more of the context of consumption. The other day, I was waiting for a train or a plane, flipping through magazines at a newsstand. It feels wrong to exclude fun wines such as Muscadet, riesling (!), Heat: 60°.

signed books. People in France buy books. I don't care if the only reason Pierre Overnoy threw me a party because out of friendship for Jean Paul Rocher, my publisher. In fact, I'd rather that was the case. There were chickens, dogs and a garden waiting to give potatoes and tomatoes. had no idea there was a pot luck dinner involved.

Ribeira Sacra is en fuego when the weather is hot
Last year, Eric Asimov of the NYT explored the winemaking renaissance in Ribeira Sacra, the vertiginous region in northwestern Spain where this wine came from ( check out the story and the gorgeous photos that make you want to book your tickets there right now). I keep meaning to do a comparative tasting of wines made from the mencia grape.
