    Three Years of Wine Tasting
Well, tomorrow will make it three years since I started this wine blog. I'm working to cover more topics in 2011 and maybe even explore other media like video. I'd also like to invite you all to contribute any of your tasting notes this year, and wish to thank you for following so faithfully. Happy New Year, Dave Trieger Vigna Uva Vino

Who makes money in wine writing?
Blogging is not a path to riches. Similarly, the small percentage that Amazon offers affiliates may go a long way on if the blog reviews plasma TVs and digital cameras. Which brings us back to blogging. Wine blogs, in some instances, have demonstrated influence. So the best advice for bloggers is to blog for love.

    Burgundy Wine Club
But blogging about it isn't exactly the same as talking about it. The first rule of Burgundy Wine Club is: you do not talk about Burgundy Wine Club. The second rule of Burgundy Wine Club is: you do not talk about Burgundy Wine Club. We've only just begun and I'm breaking rules already. started Burgundy Wine Club. It's also a challenge.

December Wines - a Laundry List
Here are the wines I drank in December that have not, even in passing, appeared recently on this blog. December tends to be a good month for wine drinking. Everyone reaches into the cellar for the good bottles to help celebrate the passing of another year. This one, however, was thrilling. The 1991 was just too young, I thought. Very lovely.

    Year In Review
Time to look back on what was an eventful year, personally and with the blog and my exploration into the world of wine. The blog of course suffered a little during the recuperation and recently has taken a bit of a slide as I got kinda hooked on computer games, fantasy sports (NASCAR) and earlier bed times. Stay tuned to Why Wine Blog.

    Goodbye 2010
Silly as it may sound, it reminds me a little of how I sometimes feel about my blog. Then I remember that I am not obligated to try to entertain anyone, I am not beholden to any wine business interests, and that I write this blog because it makes me happy. But I won't lie - it feels great that you seem to enjoy reading the blog.

    Great Champagnes, Under $50
Today alone, Eric Asimov of the NY Times published an article reviewing his tasting panel's thoughts on sparkling wines not from Champagne, and also a blog post listing some of his favorite Champagnes. It's the time of year for lists of Champagne's greatest hits. Well, I want to add my.02 cents. Bright fruit, a graceful style. Blended Wine.

    Does Price Make A Difference
You just have to know what you are buying and by reading blogs and reading wine publications you will find what you need to know. I have often heard, or even said it myself, that when it comes to good wine, price really does not matter. The more expensive wines will, or at least should, be much better than your $5 dollar wine.

don't have a lot of experience drinking German Riesling, and if I were going to buy a Dönnhoff wine to experiment with, I would begin by reading a bit - perhaps Lyle's blog. A few weeks ago a sample box containing two bottles of wine showed up at my house. And I definitely would have started with something a lot less expensive.
