Aged for 9 months in French Oak this dark purple wine (surprisingly dark I thought for a Barbera) had enticing aromas of red fruit, and everything forest from pine and bark to bushes and earth. looks a little freaky huh. | | | DR. From Tuscany we have a Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano 2004 that screams Tuscan elegance and from Piedmont we have an organic Barbera D'Asti 2005 that defines the tradition of why this grape is best with food in Piedmont. EAST VILLAGE WINE GEEK | FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2008 Talkin' bout Two More Wines In the Italian Wine Satrter Kit This Month In addition to the Nero D'Avola and the Corvina we also have an Aglianico from Campania and a Barbera D'Asti from Piedmont. In Campania there are traces of volcanic soil but there are also more nutrients in the substrates (top level of soil) so the vines still dig but on the way down they are picking up more mineral ions and such.
