And I don't mean only in the Nebbiolo land of Barbaresco and Barolo - I'm talking about humble Barberas too. All of us in the tasting room found both pepper & some real interesting smoked meat aromas. Definitely a great food wine. EAST VILLAGE WINE GEEK | WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30, 2008 Casa Marguery Malbec: Bringing the Past to the Present and Into the Future The herbs and pepper and tar that ran rampant in Cot from Cahors where not to be found on the Argentine wines I had tasted up to that point. The wines can be quite rustic and an acquired taste. Before Cot made its way to South America Argentina was definitely making wine. The word Malbec is being heard more and more these days. MORE >> -
EAST VILLAGE WINE GEEK | FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2008 Talkin' bout Two More Wines In the Italian Wine Satrter Kit This Month In addition to the Nero D'Avola and the Corvina we also have an Aglianico from Campania and a Barbera D'Asti from Piedmont. The tannins are definitely prominent but they are winding their way through the fruit of the wine layering the tongue and quenching the thirst. Some people know Barbera and some people don't.
