While I knew that mature cabernet could be incredible, I wasn’t so sure about mature shiraz. First up was the 1954 Seppelt Great Western Hermitage K72 Shiraz Great Western Grampians. Much more red than the Seppelt K72, it was also more youthful, richer, rounder with a hint of shiraz sweetness on the finish. Big time. MORE >>

This past weeks edition of the Syracuse New Times, a weekly alternative newspaper published in Syracuse, New York, contained an interesting article on Finger Lakes Riesling. What about shiraz? I tasted the shiraz. came up with the concept of Geek wines. did my ordering from Chambers Street, and at the end of the order I asked, Do you guys have Yellow Tail? Tim almost choked on the request. It was an odd one when you put it in the context of the other wines I ordered like ruch and pineau daunis. MORE >>
