The Domaine Bott-Geyl Sonnenglanz Grand Cru Alsace dessert wine, made of Pinot Gris (and apparently given a 98 by Robert Parker) was a deliciously sweet treat. While the king, a Cab based wine (with 10% Merlot) was thoroughly enjoyed and drunk to the last drop. Reds: 2005 Chateau la Rame, $13, Rosenthal Imports (Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot). For several months now the Euro is comfortably in the 1.5 range. Yup, it costs over $1.50 to buy one Euro. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 2008 NY Wine Tasting: Some Thoughts When tasting Cabernet Franc (and Merlot, but I don't have enough context on that grape so I'm limiting this thought to Cab Franc), I found wines that smacked of vanilla and some sort of blackberry jam. also loved the 2006 Envelope , a fascinating wine with a rich nose of flowers and ripe stone fruit, like an Alsace wine. VIGNA UVA VINO | TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2008 French Kiss: A French wine tasting dinner Appellation (a geographical based term to identify where the grapes are grown) is Cremant Alsace, Pierre de Perlade Blanc de Blancs Brut. This is a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and is an easy drinking and velvety Bordeaux. Perfect with hors deourves. Then another from Pierre Sparr, but this time a 100% Pinot Gris.
