BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2012 Tidbits This wine is all Bouzy, a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, but it reminded me of a wine I tasted a few years ago by Moutard that is made with the obscure grapes of Champagne, things like Arbanne and Petit Meslier. Oh no, my friends, I've been a very lucky Brooklynguy lately, in large part due to the generosity of friends. -

Some excellent wines this week, an assortment of reds and whites from around the globe. Terrezas de los Andes. Reserva Malbec 2009. Social climber? -
DR. VINO | TUESDAY, JUNE 29, 2010 Tasting the hand and the land at Hirsch Vineyards So it was that the 1997 Chardonnay that we tasted was made by Williams-Selyem but the 2007 was from Hirsch Vineyards. The 2007 Hirsch, although nobody’s going to confuse it with Chablis, was definitely leaner, with higher acidity and lower alcohol: voluptuousness was replaced by more restraint. -
WINE TASTING GUY | SUNDAY, JUNE 27, 2010 Anything But Chardonnay Yes, there is an “Anything But Chardonnay club, dubbed “ABC , that from what I gather is anti anything Chardonnay. While I am not a club member, I have become mostly disenfranchised with Chardonnay. Or at least Chardonnay NOT from Burgundy. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SUNDAY, JUNE 6, 2010 Brooklyn Blind Tasting Panel #5 - 2007 Bourgogne Aligoté It needs to be picked later than Chardonnay. But most producers simply weren't devoting that kind of attention to Aligoté and it made more sense to pull out the vines and replant with either Chardonnay or Pinot. Honestly, who drinks Aligoté? It's so acidic and harsh and there isn't much of a reward. Old vines don't hurt either.

Chablis Night We had a bunch of people over for dinner this weekend for Chablis night. Everyone brought along a bottle of Chablis, I made dinner, and we enjoyed eating, drinking, and hanging out. In part, this was inspired by this Chablis post and the reaction to it by Kristin, Henriot's marketing director. But close. Lovely wine. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 2010 Two Things that Weren't Supposed to be Good, but Were. And because thus far I had so strictly adhered to tradition, we drank Chablis with this meal. wrote something not long ago complaining about money I spent on William Fèvre Chablis. 2006 William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru Montmains , $30-35, Imported by Henriot, Inc. BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | SUNDAY, MARCH 7, 2010 Tidal Pool A few years ago I spent a lot of money on two bottles of Chablis , money that I wish I could have back right now. Chablis is a difficult wine to get spendy with, assuming you want to drink Chablis that shows real Chablis character. I'm not sure that I would buy William Fèvre's wine again if I were paying $75 for Chablis. -
A WINE STORY | WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6, 2010 How to Train Yourself to Memorize Varietal Characteristics And since Chardonnay is such a popular grape, and Burgundy, France, such a respected region, you decide to go in this direction. Yet as your eyes scan the enormous wine list, you see the various regions: Chablis, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet (and dozens of others). 2007 Jean Collet Chablis Vielles Vignes. | |
