WHY WINE BLOG | SUNDAY, MAY 6, 2012 G.D. Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo 2009 I think the best way to describe this wine is just to say that it is an Italian Beaujolais. If opened blind, that is how I would have described it. Aromas of candy cherry licorice with just a hint of smoke. Much like a French Beaujolais on the nose and not much different in the mouth, with a very long fruity finish and a touch of sweetness. -

DR. VINO | FRIDAY, MARCH 2, 2012 Parker perfection: 100 points for 18 Bordeaux 2009s The problem is that 2009 is the greatest vintage I have ever tasted in Bordeaux. This week, our “set of titanium corkscrews” award goes to Jose Pastor. It’s also a philosophical difference over scoring. “Wine is an agricultural thing,” he said. “You can’t score a tomato.” -

DR. VINO | TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2011 A transitional red: SP68 The 2010 is a bit more tannic than the 2009 but both are easy, fun drinking. As the fall weather starts to arrive, here’s a great wine for the seasonal transition: SP68 red from Arianna Occhipinti. Hailing from an organic vineyard in Sicily, the wine blends the summer joy of Frappato with the more structure of Nero d’Avola. -
BROOKLYN GUY LOVES WINE | MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2011 2010 Mosel Acidity loved it in 2009 and to me it seems as though the 2010 will be even better - more focused and precise, more mineral, more of everything, including balance and harmony. Just had to quickly tell you this: What they're saying about high acidity in the 2010 Mosel Rieslings.I think they're not exaggerating. Still delicious, profoundly so. -
DR. VINO | FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2011 The best white wine under $15 After the 2009 had more ripeness, I find 2010 a reversion to the exciting norm of citrusy freshness and minerally, iodine verve. On a related note, I was a huge fan of the 2009 red Terres Dorees , but didn’t find the 2010 red to have the same snap.). What’s the best white wine currently in the US market for about $15? -
