Wine Enthusiast magazine put on their "Toast of the Town" wine & food event yesterday in NYC at Lincoln Center.  A very large event that took place on two levels & a large balcony & included some of NYC's finest dining establishments.  There was lots of good food, good wine & happy people. From the south I chose to wax on wax off about the Nero d'Avola. Here in New York Nero d'Avola, Sicily's most important grape has slowly crept into our vocabulary. From the south we are offering a Nero d'Avola from the island region of Sicily that celebrates how far their wines have come in the past fifteen or so years. Well the Wine Starter kit for January went very well. We are pretty stoked by the reception. So we are going to keep it going and for February we have picked a new set of six. MORE >>

In addition to the Nero D'Avola and the Corvina we also have an Aglianico from Campania and a Barbera D'Asti from Piedmont. I had so much fun talking about two of the Italian wines in our starter kit last week that I though I would riff on a couple more this week.
