If I was in Sonoma, this would have been easy. she asked. she asked. | VIGNA UVA VINO APRIL 20, 2010 Cameron Hughes Wines Here are some of my quick tasting notes: Lot 108 Napa Valley Chardonnay 2007 $14 Apple, pineapple, lemon rind and pear aromas with lemon verbena and grapefruit on a creamy fresh finish. Lot 159 Santa Barbara Chardonnay 2008: new release $14 Musky aromas, citrus, creamy oak. To me they were all great value wines. | | | | | | | |

SLAKED | WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 2009  2008 Monte Bello Futures Tasting
The 2008 Monte Bello will (probably) be made from just cabernet sauvignon and merlot for the first time in twenty-five years. From barrel, we also tasted the 2008 Geyserville Tightly wound, young, but still elegant, with spice and cedar and tight red fruits. This is a white knuckled trip, but I can never wait to just get there. MORE >> -

Our first wine, a 2005 Hendry Zinfandel Block 28 Napa ** put on weight after decanting but failed to achieve the qualitative heights of the 2004 in terms of concentration and depth. Tags: 2 stars USA 2005 Sonoma Napa Valley Look for good dark fruits and mild loam, but no "wow." MORE >> -

stayed in a northern part of Napa known as Calistoga and made my way North West to Sonoma county. Zinfandel is a very common varietal in Sonoma county and I tried 2 Zins at Sausal; the 2004 Family Zinfandel & the 2005 Private reserve Zin. know nobody in Sonoma so I figured the day would take me where it took me. He is collaborating with a winemaker I used to work with in Napa and poured that wine for me in addition to his own wine. His 2004 Neiman Cellars Napa Valley Red is a blend of 1/3 Cab Sauvignon, 1/3 Merlot, & 1/3 Cab Franc. Maybach winery from the Napa Valley had one wine at the tasting. don't know. great wine. Had an amazing (yet extremely brief) 2 day trip in Napa & Sonoma. Saw friends, old & new, and I am now back in San Fran and preparing to catch my red eye flight back to NYC tonight. took notes at just about all the wineries I visited.
