And consulting winemakers, a phenomenon I became familiar with while working in Napa (although made popular by Frenchman & Mondovino character Michael Rolland). I have been nice and busy the past few weeks. | WINE TASTING GUY JULY 22, 2008 Highly regarded WINE BAR They even have wines from Israel (which you all know I think is great) as well as a very enviable "reserve list" mainly comprised of Bordeaux & Burgundy (with some Napa Cab, & Barbaresco thrown in for good measure) ranging in price from about $200 per bottle up to $1750 for a 2000 Chateau Margaux. Because it was. | | | | | | | WINE TASTING GUY JUNE 29, 2008 Less know wine region(s) in the news But any post about Israeli wines will be elaborate and hopefully include some specific news/update describing progress concerning my previously discussed Israel Wine Project. They are also often (but certainly not always) more affordable than their southernly neighbors from Napa. Happy lesser known wine region wine tasting! | WINE TASTING GUY APRIL 16, 2008 BONDING over a shared love of wine People I have met in Israel, Napa or NYC. I have long been a fan of "male bonding". ing with my buddies. Yet I often laugh that men don't regularly engage in deep heartfelt conversation. The bonding is usually over women, sports, or some other common interest. Yet bonding of this sort only lasts SO long (in my experience). | WINE TASTING GUY APRIL 6, 2008 Red Wine giving you a headache? I have also been plugging away at my Israel wine project. I had learned while taking a class at the CIA in Napa that this reaction to wine as a result of SULFITES was a myth. Please accept my apologies for the infrequent posts of late. This pre-Passover wine season has me running around to tastings and writing all kinds of articles. | WINE TASTING GUY MARCH 6, 2008 Wine expert - what are the qualifications?? spoke with many people throughout the evening about topics ranging from Israeli wines in general, to more specific Israeli boutique wineries, as well as the idea that wine from Israel is (and should be) Israeli wine and not kosher wine - as is often the misconception. I attended a wine event this evening. And I was happy that i did. | | | | | | | | | -
WINE TASTING GUY | WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 30, 2008 Blind Tasting also like blind tasting as a result of an experience from my time working in the lab at a Napa custom crush. I just enjoyed another article written by Laurie Daniel for the San Jose Mercury News. This one titled "Blind tasting Can Be A Real Eye-Opener". but she sheds some light into wine appreciation. SORRY! Happy drinking! MORE >> -
WINE TASTING GUY | MONDAY, JANUARY 14, 2008 Wine Industry Professionals It is after 3AM and I have not slept much since getting to Israel 5 days ago. The same can be said about those what worked in the trade while I was working in Napa. And truth be told there are wineries and winemakers in both California and Israel whom I met and did not like one bit. Happy Monday and L'Chaim from ISRAEL!!! MORE >> -
WINE TASTING GUY | THURSDAY, JANUARY 10, 2008 Going GREEN with your wine drinking I arrived in Israel a little more than 36 hours ago and I've already begun to run around the country to meet with my wonderful friends in the wine business out here. Napa Valley wine can emit 2.6 And Israeli wines are more carbon friendly than our own domestic Napa wines - at least for those of us residing on the East Coast. MORE >> -
WINE TASTING GUY | MONDAY, JANUARY 7, 2008 Bio was preparing to go to Israel for my brothers wedding so I decided that the country where wine (may have) all started (some 3000 years ago) would be the place for me to begin to truly learn about wine. Given the size of the country and its wine industry I was subsequently introduced to many of Israel 's top boutique wine producers. MORE >> -
WINE TASTING GUY | FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2008 Palate training with 1990 Grand Cru Burgundy As many of you already know, I got my start in wine when I went to Israel during the 2006 harvest and worked at a winery & in this winery’s vineyards. From there I went to Napa and worked at a large custom crush facility. Before returning to NYC I asked the winemaker whom I MORE >>
